At Home - Campbell Smith & Boh Runga

Big Day Out promoter and musician, live in Grey Lynn, Auckland

Campbell: We live on a hill in a bungalow surrounded by encroaching bamboo. I liked this house when I saw it because it's up some steps and hidden away, which I thought was really nice until I had to walk up those steps three or four times a day - it's like living in Wellington.

The painting behind me was done with spray cans by [hip hop artist] DLT. We don't know who did the other one - it was in an exhibition of up-and-coming young artists. Boh only ever buys large, difficult-to-move pieces of art. She picks most of the stuff in the house. Her taste is eclectic and immediate - she's one of those people who either loves something or hates it; there's no warming to it. She bought the lamp for her mother but I really liked it so it never made it to her mother. It's a bugger my large television isn't really in the photo. It was my birthday present to myself. Fifty-two inches. Enormous sport.
