The venue was perfect - small bar, held about 50 people, very intimate. About half the room seemed to be expat kiwi's. It is a real opportunity to see her in a small club that isn't standing-room-only.She had kind of a mini-band with her. 2 guys that sang backup vocals and played guitar - no drums, no keyboard. She played roughly: Drive plus a couple of covers (Bowie and Dylan, I believe) and probably a song or two that I forgot. As for lenur's comment that she was a bit "off" last night... She did have a few pauses in the beginning, but once she got going, she was classic Bic. Nearly every song she did could have been recorded and cut to a CD. I've never seen an act that was as good live as her. And, she hung around afterwards to chat with people - a very nice touch. I'd highly recommend going to one of the Cafe du Nord or Cafe Largo shows if you are in the area. With her album coming out in the US soon (FINALLY!), it might be hard to catch her in a small club again. Ah, the classic conflict: you want her to become hugely succesful, but you still want to be able to catch her in small clubs. Big thanks to Bic for coming to SF." |
