Channel Z Interview with Boh

Channel Z ran an interview in 2000 with Boh and Kurt (the bass guitaris from Stellar*. Following is the transcript, in which Boh reveals a bit about her family.

Channel Z: In the studio I've got Boh and Kurt from Stellar here?.hello

Kurt: Hello

Boh: Hello Channel Z: Thanks so much for coming in.

Boh: Thanks for the nice cup of tea.

Channel Z: Now something that I've got to ask straight away, Stellar*, what's the asterisk for?

Kurt: It was something that the guy that did the graphics design for the first single put on, and it stuck! Ever since!

Boh: We like it, it's quite pruuueeerty!

Channel Z: Yeah?.and you notice it.

Kurt: Gives people something to talk about, you know. Fickle, world of pop music.

Channel Z: I've got some spaceman cigarettes for you..

Boh: Ohhhh!

Channel Z: Not cigarettes, candy

Boh: Thank you?.

Channel Z: That's OK.

Boh: This is nice.

Channel Z: That'll keep us entertained in case the interviews boring.

Kurt: Yeah

Boh: (laughs)..can you see the red bits on the end?

Boh: Their trying to ban these things, apparently, because they look?

Channel Z: Really?

Boh: Too much like cigarettes?.go figure!

Channel Z: Why do you think you've succeeded so well, and so fast?

Boh: It's incredible

Kurt: No idea!

Boh: (Laughs.)

Channel Z: Come on, you must work at it

Kurt: Oh no, it's strange, because for four years we had no success whatsover, then in the last year we've had, sort of, more success than we've ever dreamed about, really, in New Zealand.

Channel Z: Was it the hair dye?

Kurt: We wrote an album that we were really happy with?..

Boh: I think the hair dye works really well.

Channel Z: During the four years, did you have really dark hair? and then you dyed it?

Boh: I had a lot of streaked hair, with bits of ???, but nothing as vibrant as red. I thing the red thing, well, red is good luck colour anyway

Channel Z: It stands out?.well you can recognise the band..with the red hair. What hair dye do you use?

Boh: Laughs ....I'm currently using Fudge Paintbox Fury Bomb.

Channel Z: I knew it would be Fudge.

Kurt: ???

Channel Z: Well, it's a question a lot of people want to know, Kurt!

Boh: Right, Kurt!

Channel Z: Well, I would ask you, but you've got brown hair which is obviously not dyed. Another little inside secret about Stellar*?

Boh: Oohhh, what is it?

Channel Z: I hope your not embarrassed if I bring it up, but?you guys don't drive! You had to be driven here by your record company. Is that the catch phrase for your band?."Stellar", we don't drive!".

Boh: I don't drive, I don't know whether I should drive! (laughs). I've watched my sisters drive, and I'm just not quite sure whether it's quite right!

Channel Z: Well, maybe your doing your bit to cut down the road toll.

Boh: Mmmm

Kurt: We are, by doing our bit by not driving.

Channel Z: Boh, your Mum must be so proud of you girls? You've got Bic and Pearl, everyones making music. You were saying she's a bit obsessive. What??

Boh: Well, in a good way, she's basically?the Stellar* archivist. She sort of collects everything, she collects all the newspaper clippings, she records whatever comes on TV, she records?scans the radio stations, you know.

Channel Z: It's so cool.

Boh: It's so funny!

Channel Z: She should be the leader of your fan club, and then....

Boh: She should actually!

Kurt: We're looking for someone to do that.

Channel Z: And then people can write to her to get information, you know, everything.

Kurt: Has she put anything on the Internet?

Boh: No, but we should do that!

Channel Z: Plans for the future? Where is Stellar going to next?

Boh: We've got gigs coming up, but we've got the opportunity to work on some new tracks?so that's what were going to try and do.

Channel Z: All right, we'll finish up with that then.

Kurt: OK then.
