Musician: Matt Wallace Role: Guitars on track 6 Vocals on track 6 Percussion on track 7 Bio: Like many producers, Matt Wallace's career in music started as a musician: he played and sang original songs in various Bay Area bands. Although he never achieved fame as a musician, singer or writer, the experience gave Matt the understanding to help bands with arrangements and chord choices as well as occasional co-writes. Matt's reputation as an engineer and mixer sometimes obscures the fact that he is also a capable musician. Matt has performed on many of the albums he's produced, though he rarely seeks credit for such work because he feels it is part of his role as producer. Matt sang backup vocals on albums by Faith No More, The Replacements, H20, Sugarcult, Flybanger, Khaleel, and others. He played drums on The Replacement's "Don't Tell A Soul" and on Paul Westerberg's "14 Songs". He played guitar on recordings by John Hiatt, Sheryl Crow, Bic Runga, and numerous others. Matt has played percussion on many of his productions and even on quite a few of his mixes for others. All this is to say that, in addition to being an accomplished engineer and mixer, Matt is a very musical producer who has a keen ear for songs and arrangements. Musician: Josh Freese Role: Bass on track 7 Bio:
Josh Freese was born on Christmas Day,1972 in Orlando, Florida
but has lived in Southern California since he was 6 months old. Having been
brought up in a musical family (father conducted the Disneyland Band and
mother was a classical pianist) he was surrounded by music from an early age
and began playing the drums around the time he was 7 or 8 years old.
He started playing professionally at the age of 12 (in a Top 40
band at Disneyland) and starting touring and making records at the age of 15.
First with Dweezil Zappa and then the Vandals, pretty much simultaneously.
Still a member of the Vandals, Josh has gone on to work with some pretty
bitchin' folks in the last 10 years; ranging from Devo to Guns n' Roses,
Suicidal Tendencies to Perry Farrell, Paul Westerberg to Chris Cornell, A
Perfect Circle to Juliana Hatfield, Mike Ness to 311, etc....he's appeared on
close to 100 records (see Discography page for an almost complete
listing).
Aside from being an L.A. studio musician (what he calls his
"day job") He's a member of A Perfect Circle, The Vandals, and Devo.
He also recently released his first solo record titled "The Notorious One
Man Orgy" where he writes, sings, and performs just about everything.
He's been hailed "The Bruce Lee Of Drums" and was recently presented
with the key to Los Angeles when the Mayor declared July 24th "Josh
Freese Day" in Los Angeles......

Musician: Peter Asher Role: Vocals on track 6 Bio: Best known as one half of '60s hitmakers Peter and Gordon,
Peter Asher later enjoyed great success as a producer. Born in London on June
22, 1944, he was the older brother of Jane Asher, the longtime girlfriend of the
Beatles' Paul McCartney. While attending the Westminster School for Boys, he
first met fellow student Gordon Waller, and together they began playing together
as a duo. Asher's connection to the Fab Four was a crucial one, as he and Waller
were often given unrecorded Lennon-McCartney songs to perform, most notably
their first and biggest hit, 1964's decidedly Beatlesque "World Without
Love." After Peter and Gordon disbanded in 1968, Asher was named the
director of AR at the Beatles' Apple Records label, where he signed a
then-unknown James Taylor and agreed to produce the singer/songwriter's debut
solo LP. The album was not a success, but Asher maintained that Taylor held
great potential, and he resigned his post at Apple to move to the U.S. to serve
as Taylor's manager, a partnership which endured over several decades. He also
emerged among the principal architects of the mellow California rock sound
prominent during the 1970s, producing records for Linda Ronstadt, J.D. Souther,
Andrew Gold and Bonnie Raitt. In the decade to follow, Asher also helmed hit
albums for artists ranging from Cher to 10, 000 Maniacs. ~ Jason Ankeny, All

Musician: Nick Seymour Role: Arranger Bio: Bassist Nick Seymour has been involved in a number of musical projects, the most successful of which was Crowded House. The band was also his longest lasting, forming during the mid-'80s and going strong through 1996. His other bands included Glory Boys for about a year beginning in 1979, the Romantics the following year, and Scratch Record Scratch, which only stayed together during 1981. He then joined Plays With Marionettes, where he remained through 1984, and the Mullanes the following year. Seymour is one of four children born to parents who were educators. Brother Mark fronts a band called Hunters Collectors and sister Helen teaches music. Along with sister Hilary, they entertained at gatherings in the region of Victoria during their childhood. Upon his graduation from high school, Seymour attended a Melbourne art school, where he remained for five years. His art background enabled him to create the album covers for Crowded House. He also contributed to the band's costumes and some of their videos. Seymour learned how to play bass without any formal lessons, taking up the instrument during art school. Paul Hester and Neil Finn, fellow Crowded House band members, were ending their association with a band from New Zealand called Split Enz in 1984. They were kicking off a final tour to end their dozen years together. After learning that Hester and Finn needed a bassist for their new group, Seymour approached Finn at a party and secured an audition, winning a spot in Crowded House. The band was formerly known as the Mullanes. The Australian bassist wed Brenda Bentleigh, an American, in 1989. The marriage ended in 1993. Seymour toured with brother Mark following the release of the latter's King Without a Clue album, which he also played on. ~ Linda Seida, All Music Guide
