Biography: About Working With Bic

Greg Johnson, Musician, on the track "Lazy Susan" from his album "Sea Breeze Motel".

"This was the last song to be added to the Sea Breeze Motel. While visiting the home of Bic Runga I wrote this for her on an old piano. It's kind of a description of her house and the visit, centred around a large Chinese table with a lazy susan. The stolen rocks are now in my garden, but Bic was still gracious enough to sing backing vocals on the track".

Lyrics:

lazy susan spins on her axis with drinks for us all
and here in the moonlight she looks like a toy
lazy susan her young polynesian boy coming around
soon he'll take care of her iceberg and frown
she's bouncing off the walls and we can't slow her down
we sing la la.....

life is easy with books and with poetry keeping her mind,
amnesty bathroom and garden of stone,
lights we have all seen and rocks we have thrown,
i even stole one for luck, here while the world runs amok
susan doesn't work for a living she rolls on her charming
smile laughing and giving, it's no good we can't stop
from spinning around do you realize the value of what we have now,
susan talks on the phone and waits for the doorbell to ring
we all sing.....

lazy susan she picks up her guitar and strums for a while,
and once she starts singing we can't help but smile the girl has such style
was that a ring at the door that i heard?
was that a smile just for me or the whole world stands still
the whole world stands still.

Greg Johnson: "This tune was inspired by Bic and her chinese table and in no way suggests that she doesn't work hard, cos she does".

"Lazy Susan" Control (Greg Johnson).
