Original article is at: The Advertiser, Australia 22 August, 2002 By Jon Hart Rating: ***½ Crafting a song and moulding it into a luscious piece of moody, ballady pop is what brought Bic Runga success some three years ago with her debut Drive. As a singer, songwriter, musician and producer, Runga has taken this style to new heights in this album, her ethereal compositions tugging at the heartstrings with lyrics conveying honest images with warmth and sincerity. The 26-year-old New Zealand artist has added more refinement and maturity to make the bold task of producing a personal album shine. The love which has gone into this second release is evident. Twelve engineers, eight recording studios, five countries, as well as legendary Kiwis Neil Finn and Dave Dobbyn, all play a part as Runga dishes out a gorgeous blend of boldness and beauty. With a lack of immediate hits, it's an album which will certainly have to grow on you, but its rich, smooth sound will surely give this talented artist the international recognition she deserves.
