Neil Finn is all over the new Bic Runga record "Beautiful Collision".

Finn sings backing vocals on 'Something Good', sings, plays piano and keyboards on 'The Be All And The End All' and is guest vocalist on 'Listening For The Weather'. In addition, Sebastian Steinberg from Neil's current USA touring band played Bass on 9 of the tracks including the latest hit single 'Get Some Sleep'.

Runga has taken nearly 5 years to follow up her platinum selling "Drive" album. She says 'Beautiful Collision' took 3 years to make. She also to being a fan of The Smiths. "Most of the musicians who really blow me away are either dead or over 50" she says. "The first time music really spoke to me was when I first heard The Smiths when I was 12".

That Smiths connection links back to Finn who has just done a few gigs at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr played with Finn Friday and Saturday night at the West Hollywood venue.

The gigs were to mark the American release of the album "One All" (released as One Nil in England and Australia last year). The set included the Smiths' "How Soon Is Now" and "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" as well as Finn's classic Split Enz numbers "I Got You" and "One Step Ahead".
